Our aim is to make Guildford Archery Club as open and friendly to beginners and recreational archers as it is to serious competitors.
Membership and affiliation fees are modest, and there are special rates for juniors and for those with limited income.
The club also has the advantage of having Steve Lingwood, maker of the Stylist Bow, who does a very good hire scheme, for a top quality bow..
The club runs four beginners' courses every year, two outdoors in the summer and two indoors in the winter. The courses are advertised in the local newspapers, in libraries and sports centres, and by mailings to local schools and colleges. Attendance ranges from an easily managed dozen or so to one year's peak of nearly fourty. Included in the membership of the club we have one County coach, One currently qualified coach and two lapsed coaches.
During the year the Club is involved in numerous events in the local area. These include the Guildford Lions' Show at Shalford Park on Easter Bank Holiday Monday; Spectrum Leisure Centre's school holiday 'Have-A-Go' sessions, Sport for All days, and special activity days for the disabled; a number of local village and school fetes; and corporate events for local companies, and organisations such as the Round Table, the Scouts, and the Health and Fitness Club at the Forte Crest Hotel.
The club has it's own "Introduction
